"When you focus on the good, the good gets better." ― Abraham Hicks
Traditionally, coaching has been seen by some as a means for solving problems (i.e. What's not working; how can we fix it?)
A key component of shifting from problems to possibilities is perspective: how we view our life and perceive all that transpires within it.
Today, I invite you to a perspective upgrade, using the power of your imagination...

...In your mind's eye, envision a cup. This cup represents your life. It is filled with water, which represents your zest for living.
Next, envision a spoonful of dirt stirred into your cup. This represents the unexpected challenges of life.
You now have a cup filled with muddy water. There are bits and pieces floating around in the once crystal-clear water. You can spend days, hours, even years, trying to spoon out (resolve) every last bit of dirt (challenge) from your cup (life), while also removing the "good stuff" (i.e.water/zest for life) with each each spoonful of dirt and debris. Ultimately, your cup will get emptier and emptier, while the remaining water will still be muddied.
As an alternative, you can take a pitcher filled with fresh, clear water ("the good stuff") and keep filling your cup until all of the dirt and debris has overflowed and been replaced by the new water.
This mental demonstration offers a visual metaphor for how we can approach the challenges in our lives. When we flood our cups with the "good stuff", we naturally displace and transform the challenge over time. While there is certainly a valuable time and place for healing, we do not have to have everything just so before we can create what we desire.
So, cheers to the good stuff and putting your focus on what you desire, what you would like to create, and who you are becoming (not just what you think is a problem or needs fixing).
What all will you be adding to your cup?
Not sure? Let's chat.
