A New Year means fresh starts and new beginnings, as well as continued navigation of the path we were already on when the clock struck midnight on January 1st...
Did you ring in 2024 with one or more resolutions? Now is about the time when those resolutions can begin to wane or falter. If that is the case, I invite you to something else.
For several years, I have selected a focus or compass word for the year. It is a word that reflects what I commit to learning more about, becoming more skilled at, and leaning into in the year ahead.
When I am making important choices throughout the year, or face challenges, it serves to keep me in alignment with my greater ask of myself.
This year my word is Resilient. To be resilient is to respond to internal and external factors with flexibility. It asks us to be curious to see what is objectively going on, as well as creativity to adapt and find new ways to maneuver. It is about getting back up and trying something new when the last thing didn't turn out as planned. It is about commitment, tenacity, and a belief in what is possible, even if it's not what is currently showing up.
On New Years Eve, in lieu of a Vision Board this year, I made two Word Maps (pictured above). I have them posted in my office as reminders of what to keep in focus this year. For me, these are less about the "doing" (I have lists and calendars for that), and more about staying in the intentionality of what I am "being."
I invite you to see if there is a word that you would like to lean into and practice this year.
If inclined, reflect on the year past, envision the year ahead, and create your own word map. There are lots of different ways to do them, so just have fun, regardless of how it looks.
If you would like guidance in selecting your word, creating a visual Word Map, or generally improved mental fitness and intentionality in 2024, contact Coach Rebecca.
